Violets Lead After Opening Round of NYU Invitational in New Jersey

On Saturday, April 7, the New York University men's golf team hosted round one of the NYU Invitational at the Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, NJ.

NYU has both an A and a B team participating this weekend. The A squad shot 298 to finish the round in first place, one stroke better than Rensselar Polytechnic Institute (299). The B squad is currently in ninth place with a score of 337. 

On the individual leaderboard, NYU occupies two of the top three spots. Matt Shen shot a par 71 and sits atop the leaderboard in first place while Robbie Keyes (73) is in tie for third place.

Each member of the Violets A team is currently among the top 15. After shooting a 76, Patrick McNary is in tie for eighth while Luke Oberholtzer and Kelly Sun are both in a tie for 13th place with scores of 78.

"Everyone did fantastic today," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "Even though the course was cold and wet, we were able to have a strong start to the tournament."
