Senior Jason Paek carded a 1-under round of 71 to lead the University of Rochester golf team to a 17th place finish among 30 teams at the Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
 
Rochester overall as a team ended the 54-hole event with a score of 899, shooting a team round of 13-over 301 in Sunday's final round on the Pine Lakes Course.  That backed up rounds of 302 and 296 from Friday and Saturday.
 
5th-ranked Methodist University shot a 10-under 278 on Sunday and breezed to an 11-stroke win, tallying 853 for three rounds.  #13 Guilford finished second with 864 and #2 Huntingdon was third at 869.
 
Paek ended the tournament in a tie for 26th place among 150 total golfers with a three-day score of 219.  He lowered his score on Sunday after carding back-to-back rounds of 74.  His Sunday round featured 15 pars, two birdies and one bogey.  Paek ended up finishing tied for third in the tournament with 40 pars over his three rounds.
 
First-year Steven Zeng ended the tournament one stroke behind Paek at 220 after carding a 3-over 75 in the final round.  Zeng finished in a tie for 31st.
 
Jack Mulligan shot a 4-over 76 on Sunday and wound up in a tie for 75th place with a score of 227 for three days.  Aleksander Overli also broke 80 in all three rounds, shooting 79 on Sunday to finish with a grand total of 236 for 54-holes.  He ended in a tie for 117th.
 
Rochester's fifth golfer was first-year Ryan Dougherty who finished T-128th after a score of 81 on Sunday gave him a three-round total of 239.
 
Meanwhile on Jekyll Island's Oleander Course, UR also had three participants in the Jekyll Island Individual Championship, where first-year Declan Hickton led the field with a 1-under 71 on Sunday moving up two spots to finish in second place among 39 individuals.  His three-round total was 223, as he improved each day, going from 78 on Friday, to 74 on Saturday to 71 on Sunday.
 
Also, competing in the individual event was senior Corey Mitchener who shot 79 on Sunday to finish at 241 for the tournament and wound up in T-21st.  First-year Matt Perez carded his second straight 85 and finished in 30th place with a score of 249 for 54 holes.
