Yellowjackets Post Solid Day Day Scores At Oglethorpe

A strong effort by the University of Rochester golf team on the opening day of play has the Yellowjackets in 6th place among a stacked field at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational on Saturday.
 
Rochester shot an opening round 297 (+9) and then is 2-under through nine holes in round two and is +7 overall for the event.  Event organizers decided to play 27-holes on Saturday with heavy rains slated for Sunday's final day of competition.
 
Greensboro holds the day one lead with a score of -4, all of which came in an opening round 284.  North Carolina Wesleyan is currently second at -2, as they were the round one leaders with a 283.  Emory is third at even par, with Southwestern University (+5) and Carnegie Mellon (+6) sitting fourth and fifth respectively.
 
UR was led by senior Jason Paek who is even through 27 holes.  He carded an even-par round of 72 in the opening 18 and then is even through nine holes in the final round.  He is in a tie for 17th place.
 
Sophomore Jack Mulligan has a solid second round going, sitting at -3 through nine holes, and is also even par for the tournament in T-17th.  He opened the event with a +3 round of 75 earlier in the day on Saturday.
 
Three first year players round out the UR lineup, with Declan Hickton sitting in a tie for 31st at +2 for the tournament.  He is -1 in the second round after carding a 75 over the opening 18 holes.  Classmate Aleksander Overli is +7 through 27 holes (75 round 1) while Steven Zeng is one stroke behind at +8 (78 round 1).  Overli is in a tie for 60th while Zeng is T66th.
 
Rochester also has one individual competing in the tournament, with first-year Ryan Doughertyin a tie for 81st at +11.  He shot an opening round 76, which included three straight birdies on holes 1, 2 and 3 (started on the back nine).
