Emory Stands Third After Opening Round Of Chick-fil-A Collegiate

The Emory University golf team completed the opening round of play at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational on Monday. The 36-hole tourney is being played on the 6,695-yard, par-72 Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Ga.  

The Eagles' B Team stands third out of 19 teams after registering a 10-over par score of 298. Central Alabama Community College holds down the top spot after the first 18 holes with a mark of two-under par 286.  Host Berry College is third at three-over 291. There is a two-way for fourth place between the B sides from Berry and Huntingdon, with each squad checking in at 299.

Emory freshman Max Schwarz led the team with an excellent score of two-under par 70, finishing his round with four birdies and a pair of bogeys   Schwarz is second on the 103-player leaderboard, trailing only Noah Dennis from Central Alabama CC who fired a five-under 67. Schwarz was one of six players on the day to break par. Sophomore Davis Hingtgen checked in with a two-under par 74 while freshman Andrew DiPetrillo and senior Anthony Muscato rounded out the Emory scorers at 75 and 79, respectively. Junior Leo Rich shot an 82.
