Playing against some of the top competition in Division III for the second straight week, the University of Rochester golf team ended in a tie for 15th place at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the Raven Golf Club.
Rochester finished the three-day event with a team score of 901, carding a score of 300 on Tuesday. Top-ranked Emory University captured the team title with a remarkable 842 score (10-under) over the three days. Overall, 13 of the 18 teams are represented in the top-25 of the latest Division III poll, including four of the top-5 teams in the country.
The Yellowjackets best round over the final 18 holes was shot by sophomore Ryan Dougherty who carded a 2-over par score of 73. His round featured three birdies and five bogeys. That score moved him up seven spots in the individual standings to a finish of T-64th after a 229 score.
Jack Mulligan was UR's top individual finisher, scoring a T-28th place finish with consistent rounds throughout the tournament. The junior shot scores of 73-72-74 to end with a 219 for the 54-hole event.
Teammate Aleksander Overli ended with a 79 in his final round and finished in a tie for 33rd place at 220, while Declan Hickton was the fourth UR scorer on Tuesday, shooting a 3-over par 74 to finish at 236 (83rd). The fifth golfer participating in the event was first-year Freddie Gluck III who shot 87 in the final round.
Dan Shepherd of Methodist took home medalist honors, ending the event at 7-under, 206. He shot a tournament best round of 66 on Tuesday.
