From Washington University Athletics

The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team and head coach Joe Clarke announced that Paul Anderson has been named a full-time assistant for the program. Anderson will officially begin his coaching duties August 1.

This upcoming season will be Anderson's eighth year coaching the Bears after joining the staff in 2008 on a part-time basis. Anderson is the first full-time assistant in program history.

In his seven years on the staff, the Bears have accumulated an overall record of 77-33-18. WashU has recorded five seasons with at least 10 wins, including a 14-1-5 effort in 2010. The Bears made an appearance in three-straight NCAA tournaments from 2010-12, and advanced to the second round in 2010 and 2011.

Anderson has helped lead the Bears to six top-four finishes in the University Athletic Association (UAA), including a second-place finish in 2010 and back-to-back UAA titles in 2011 and 2012.

Prior to joining the WashU staff, Anderson, a native of Jarrow, England, coached for the Lou Fusz Soccer Club in St. Louis for three years, beginning with the U10 team and then serving as the team's head coach through its U12 season.

In 2009, Anderson earned his National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and then received his Advanced National Diploma in 2010.

Anderson earned his degree in coaching science with sport and exercise science from Manchester Metropolitan University. He and his wife, Jennifer, have a daughter, Madeline.
