From Emory University Athletics
The Emory University Men's Soccer Team, ranked seventh in
Division III, scored a pair of late goals to remain undefeated with
a 2-0 win at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama on
Wednesday night.
Emory has now won eight-straight games to move to 8-0-1
overall on the season, while the Panthers, ranked fourth in the
South Atlantic Region, suffered their first setback of the 2014
campaign, dropping to 5-1-1.
Despite applying the pressure early, the Eagles
ended the first half in a scoreless deadlock with the
Panthers. Emory held advantages both in shots (10-5) and
shots on goal (3-2) over Birmingham-Southern after the first 45
minutes.
The game remained scoreless until the
76th minute,
when Sebastian Hardington struck for what
would prove to be the game-deciding score, coming off an assist
from sophomore Jason Andrejchak. It was the
third goal of the season for Hardington, each of which has been a
game winner, while Andrejchak earned his team-leading sixth assist
of the season on the play.
Andrejchak leads all Eagles this season with 14
points.
In the 81st minute, Emory took
advantage of a pair of yellow cards issued to Birmingham-Southern
players, resulting in a penalty kick for senior Dylan
Price. Price would convert on the opportunity for his
third goal of the season, pushing the Eagles' lead to
2-0.
Emory finished the game with a 14-10 advantage in total
shots, and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
The Eagles' defense picked up its third-straight shutout and
its fifth shutout overall this season.

in goal, claiming his fourth individual shutout of the season and
lowering his goals-against average to 0.60 for the year.
