13th-Ranked Eagles Sweep Warrior Classic with 3-0 Win over Hendrix

Emory University senior Carl Credle, sophomore Scott Haley and freshman Jason McCartney each tallied goals on Sunday afternoon, as the 13th-ranked Eagles defeated host Hendrix College 3-0 at the Warrior Classic in Conway, Arkansas.

Emory finished the tournament with a 2-0-0 record, and has won six-straight games to remain undefeated on the season with a 6-0-1 mark.  Hendrix dropped to 2-4-1 with the loss.

Emory junior co-captain and center back Matt Sherr was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.  Joining Sherr on the all-tournament team were senior Noah Rosen, junior Sebastian Hardington and sophomore Jason Andrejchak.

The Eagles dominated the shot count throughout the first half, but did not break through for their first goal until late in the frame.  In the 41st minute, senior Carl Credle headed in a free kick from junior Connor Curtin for his first goal of the season, giving the Eagles a 1-0 advantage over the Warriors.

Shortly thereafter, a foul resulted in a free kick for the Eagles from approximately 25 yards out in the 43rd minute, sophomore Scott Haley sent a shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the year, as Emory carried a 2-0 lead into the half.  The Eagles finished the first 45 minutes with a 14-6 edge in total shots over Hendrix, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

In the second half, Emory extended its lead with a goal from freshman Jason McCartney, his third of the year, in the 72nd minute.  He was assisted by junior Sebastian Hardington on the play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alexander Herbets made his first career start and played the first 88 minutes in goal, making three saves to earn the victory.  Freshman Graham LaBran-Boyd made his collegiate debut, playing the final two minutes of the game to complete the Eagles' third shutout of the season.
