From Emory University Athletics
Junior Sebastian Hardington scored twice on Saturday
to lead the Emory University Men's Soccer Team, ranked seventh in
Division III, to their seventh-consecutive win with a 3-0 victory
over the University of the South (Sewanee) at the Woodruff Physical
Education Center.
Emory remained undefeated on the season with an overall record of
9-0-1, while Sewanee fell to 3-6-0 with the loss.
Emory used some solid passing to take a lead in the
14th minute of play. Senior Dylan
Price flicked a ball back to freshman Jason McCartney,
who sent a through ball into the 18-yard box to Hardington.
Hardington finished with a shot past the keeper and into the net
for his fourth goal of the season. Price earned his fifth
assist of the season on the play, while McCartney picked up his
first.
Emory padded its lead in the second half, when Price launched a
long shot off a pass from Zachary Rosenberg in the
57th minute to give the Eagles a 2-0
advantage. It was the fourth goal of the season for Price,
and the first assist of the campaign for Rosenberg.
Emory tacked on another goal late when Hardington converted a
penalty kick attempt in the 85thminute for his
team-leading fifth goal of the season, and his first career
multiple-goal game.
Junior Abe Hannigan needed to make just one save in the
game, as Emory's defense limited the Tigers to just six shots,
including one on target. It was the Eagles' fourth-straight
shutout (and sixth overall this season) as the squad has now gone
the last 415 minutes and 57 seconds of game time without allowing a
goal.
