The New York University men's soccer team defeated Baruch College 3-1 at the Met Oval in Queens, NY, on Friday night, August 29, to start the 2014 season with a victory.

The Violets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against Baruch, with both goals coming from freshmen making their collegiate debuts.

Starting the second half with a 2-0 lead, the Violets added another score to the board to jump ahead 3-0. NYU would finish the contest with the 3-1 victory.

"The guys played very well today and were able to score a few very nice goals," NYU Head Coach oe Behan said. "All three were good team goals during which everyone worked very well together. At the same time, we all know we have a lot of things to work on and we are looking still to improve in certain areas."
