The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) recognized three
members of the New York University men's soccer team as Division
III Metro All-Stars on Tuesday, December 16, led by Co-Rookie of
the Year Malcolm Montilus.
Montilus, who was also named a First Team All-Star as a forward, is
joined by co-captains Petter Aasa (First Team
midfielder) and Mickey Ingerman (Second Team
defender).
Montilus finished the year as NYU's leader in goals (7),
game-winning goals (2) and shots on goal (18), while tying for the
team lead in points (15). The 6-foot-4 Mendham, NJ, native also
earned Second Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA)
honors.
Aasa ended 2014 as the Violets' assists leader with five. The
6-foot-0 sophomore from Umeå, Sweden, also scored
his first career goal (September 23 vs. USMMA) during the season en
route to his second consecutive Second Team All-UAA selection.
Ingerman, a senior who spent most of the season on NYU's back line,
also earned Second Team All-UAA honors. The 5-foot-10 Baton Rouge,
LA, native started 17 of 19 games for the Violets and notched his
lone goal of the season vs. Hunter College on September
17.
NYU finished the season 11-7-1 overall, including a 2-5 mark in the
UAA. The Violets advanced to the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship
semifinals, where they fell 1-0 to eventual champion, Rutgers
University-Camden on November 15.
