The New York University men's soccer team shutout Farmingdale
State College, 7-0, on Tuesday evening, September 30, at Gaelic
Park in Riverdale, NY.
The Violets (8-1-0) were led by Liam Stimpson's
hat-trick performance, netting goals in the 55th, 75th and 85th
minutes of the contest. Malcom Montilus followed with two goals,
which were back-to-back within a four-minute span. Montilus
received an assist from Zane Van De Put in the
62nd minute and headed the ball in net in the 66th minute on a
corner cross from Ryley Llorente to the far
post.
"It was a great day offensivley for us," NYU Head
Coach Joe Behan said. "I'm glad to see those
two late goals that were converted on corner kicks, because we've
been working hard on that in practice all season."
NYU garnered 24 total shots, with 15 on goal, compared to
Farmingdale State's eight shots and two on goal, respectively.
In net, Lucas Doucette improved to 5-1 with
one save while Aaron Hoffman grabbed one save
in 18 minutes of relief.
Deniz Oncu opened scoring in the 44th minute with
an assist by Petter Aasa, while Tommy
Walters scored NYU's sixth goal in the 84th minute
(unassisted).
"It's a great way to head into University Athletic Association
(UAA) play, but once we begin against Rochester, it will be a
totally different game," Behan said. "We're excited to get started
and see what we can do against UAA competition."
