From NYU Athletics
Justin Suter of the New York University men's
soccer team was named to the Capital One Division III Academic
All-America Third Team, as selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The honor was announced
on Friday, November 21, following Suter's selection to the Academic
All-District 3 First Team last month.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a
student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain
a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher on a scale of 4.0, and have
reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her
current institution.
The senior defender adds this accolade to his three career
University Athletic Association (UAA) Fall Sports All-Academic
honors, as well as two NYU Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory
Committee (IAAC) Fall Honor Roll selections.
On the field, Suter played and started in 18 contests for the
Violets (11-7-1) in 2014, anchoring a back line that allowed less
than one goal per game throughout the season. As a junior, the Cold
Spring Harbor, NY, native played in 13 games for NYU, including
five starts. He scored his first-career goal against Stevens
Institute of Technology on September 14, 2013.
In his first year on the squad as a sophomore, Suter played in
seven games, including his first collegiate start on November 11,
2012, against Richard Stockton College.
