From NYU Athletics
The New York University men's soccer team shutout the University
of Rochester 2-0 in its University Athletic Association (UAA)
opener on Saturday, October 4, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale,
NY.
Ryan Cerqueria netted
the game's first goal in the 52nd minute, while Liam Stimpson scored NYU's
insurance goal in the 55th minute for the Violets' victory.
NYU improved to 9-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the UAA. This was
also the Violets' third straight win.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Cerquera's goal was the first of his career and gave NYU it first
UAA victory of the season.
- Stimpson's goal was his team-leading sixth of the season. He has
now scored four goals in the last two games for NYU, following up
his hat-trick vs. Farmingdale State College with another goal
against the Yellowjackets on Saturday.
- Lucas
Doucette recorded a season-best eight saves en route to
his third shutout of the season. The sophomore keeper is now 6-1-0
on the season.
