The University of Rochester men's soccer team capitalized on its corner kick chances, scoring twice off set pieces to power past Hobart College 2-0 on Saturday evening at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

Seniors Keith Grafmeyer and Ben Keeton supplied the goals, one coming in each half to lift Rochester (3-1-1).

Hobart (3-2) would supply the first good scoring opportunity of the game 12:30 in when Zico Gaeffke picked up a loose ball that was cleared off the line by UR senior defender Andrew Sheridan.13670

Early in the 36th minute, sophomore striker Jeff Greblick had a point blank shot in the box deflected away by Hobart's Carl Weiss, but gave UR a corner.  On the ensuing corner kick, Nick Pastore found the head of the senior All-American defender Grafmeyer who finished the play for a goal, giving the Yellowjackets a 1-0 lead at 35:36.

Senior Mark Lawlor nearly doubled the lead five minutes later, but his shot from 20 yards was stopped by a diving Mike Lucas in the Statesmen net.

Less than five minutes into the second period, senior Alex Swanger took a hard shot from 10 yards along the right wing that was turned away by Lucas, leading to another UR corner kick.

Senior Shane Dobles then would step up to the corner, sending a cross perfectly to the back post, finding his classmate Keeton who was there to head in Rochester's second goal, putting UR up 2-0.

Lucas made a fantastic save in the 60th minute for Hobart, keeping UR's Greblick off the scoreboard who came in all alone one-on-one after a cross from the left wing.

The Hobart keeper kept the strong saves coming as Rochester Ben Swanger and Nick Pastore would pelt Lucas with back-to-back good chances in the 64th minute.  Overall, the Statesmen keeper finished with nine saves on the night, tying his season high.

In the Rochester net, sophomore keeper Michael Shatkin made two saves in the shutout.

The Yellowjackets seemed to control possession in the second half, outshooting Hobart 11-1 and earning six corners to the Statesmens one.  For the game, UR held a 17-3 shot edge.
