Senior midfielder Chris Cvecko of the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team has been named to The National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2015 All-America Second Team.

Cvecko is the fourth Spartan in program history to receive the prestigious honor. Vinny Bell earned third team and second team recognition in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Also in 2011, Niro Wimalase earned second team honors. Matt Paglia, the first Spartan in program history, garnered a third team honor in 2007.

"This is a tremendous honor for Chris and one that is deserving," said Head Coach Brandon Bianco. "Chris has been the heart and soul of our program for the last few years and I'm so happy that his performance has been recognized at a national level. Chris is truly a special player and an even more special person and teammate. There isn't anyone more deserving of All-American recognition than Chris Cvecko."

Earlier this season, Cvecko was named a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Men's Soccer Third Team after being named CoSIDA Academic All-Region, based on his outstanding achievements both on the pitch and in the classroom over his career as a Spartan.

Cvecko was named the University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player as well as earning All-UAA First Team honors. He became just the second player in the program's history to be named the UAA MVP, along with former Spartan Vinny Bell, who earned the award in both 2010 and 2011. In his third straight season earning first-team honors, he is only the third Spartan in program history to have received the prestigious honor three times during his career along with Mark Ruegsegger (1992-94) and Vinny Bell (2009-2011).

Cvecko finished the 2015 season with a career-high 22 points and 10 goals.  The two-year captain ended his career ranked sixth in school history with 67 points and 26 goals, as well as adding on 15 assists during his time as a Spartan.  During his tenure with the program, the midfielder has also been named to the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team.

Cvecko and the Spartans finished the 2015 campaign with a 13-4-1 record, and placed second in the University Athletic Association with a 4-3 conference ledger.
