Spartans Advance to 6-1 After Ohio Northern Shutout

The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer program edged Ohio Northern University in a 2-0 shutout at DiSanto Field on Saturday afternoon scoring both goals in the final minute of play of both halves.

The win is the fourth-straight victory for the Spartans, who improve to 6-1-0 overall this season, while Ohio Northern drops to 5-3-0 with the loss.

After 44 scoreless minutes in the first half, the Spartans struck the back of the net. Junior forward Joshua Prosser dribbled around a defender in the middle of the field and struck to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead heading into the half.

CWRU remained on top 1-0 until the the final minute of play. Freshman midfielderNoah Kleedtke was able to field a pass from senior midfielder Chris Cvecko. Off the pass, Kleedtke dribbled past the Polar Bear goalkeeper, who had come out of the box to defend, and was able to send the ball past him into the back of the net for a 2-0 Spartan win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Grimme made the second start of his career, earning a second shutout and the victory.  He recorded two saves during his 90 minutes in net.

The Spartans' defense recorded its third team shutout of the season, limiting the Polar Bears to nine shots and only two on goal.
