Yellowjackets Earn Road Tie vs. Washington

From University of Rochester Athletics

Goalkeeper Redd Brown made three saves – including a key one in the second overtime – and Andrew Greenway scored a clutch goal as Rochester launched the conference portion of its schedule with a 1-1 tie at 14th-ranked Washington University.

Brown finished the day with three saves, including one on Ryan Sproule with just over a minute to play in the second OT  to preserve the deadlock.

The tie gives Rochester a key away point against a nationally ranked opponent. Next up on the schedule is the University of Chicago on Meliora Saturday at Fauver Stadium. It's a 7:30 pm kickoff.

Greenway notched his third goal of the season two minutes before the halftime whistle. He got to a loose ball in the penalty area after a corner kick and scramble and directed it into the back of the net.

Washington got even 11 minutes after the restart. Grant Baltes hit a long cross to Marc VandenBerg and he scored from inside the penalty area. It was his second goal of the year.

The Bears held a 17-9 advantage on shots; four were on target. Rochester had five shots on goal with Daniel Geanon saving four of them. Near the end of the first overtime, Ben Swanger rose to meet a corner kick, but Geanon was equal to the task.

Rochester is 4-2-3 overall (0-0-1 UAA). Washington is 6-1-3 overall, 0-0-1 UAA.
