The No. 24-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team opened its two-game road swing in California with a 2-1 win at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Friday afternoon in Claremont, Calif.

WashU improves to 3-1-2 with the win and extends its unbeaten streak to three games, while Pomona-Pitzer falls to 1-4-1.

The Bears struck first off a corner kick in the 26th minute after sophomore back Nick Knight finished off a header from junior Kevin Goon. WashU extended the lead to 2-0 in the 42nd minute when freshman Camillo Haller bent a shot off the inside left post.

The Bears outshot Pomona-Pitzer 12-3 in the opening half, as the Bears' defense did not allow a shot on goal.

The Sagehens cut the deficit in the half in the 59th minute after a goal by Max DeWit. Pomona-Pitzer continued to pressure late in the contest, and junior goalkeeper Nick Tannenbaum made a game-saving stop with a minute left after tipping a free kick from Kian Kagnheri over the bar.

The Bears outshot Pomona-Pitzer, 18-6, and had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Tannenbaum made one save and improved his record to 2-1-1.
