From Brandeis University Athletics/Merchant Marine Academy Athletics

Junior Patrick Flahive's (Chatham, Ill./Worcester Academy) goal 2:06 into the second overtime lifted Brandeis to a 1-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Monday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Brandeis played beyond 90 minutes for the seventh time in eight games - with Flahive scoring a game-winner 47 seconds from the end of regulation in the one contest decided in regulation in that stretch. This time out, he headed a pass from senior Evan Jastremski (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) during a scramble in front of the net on the golden goal for the visiting Judges (5-3-3). The goal was Flahive's fourth of the season, three of which have been game-winners. Junior Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) took care of the rest in net for Brandeis by making six saves to earn his fifth win and third shutout of the season.

With the win, Brandeis will take a four-match unbeaten streak (2-0-2) into a date with top-ranked Chicago on Friday evening in a University Athletic Association match in Chicago, Ill. that begins at 6:30 p.m. (5:30 Central)

Junior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) made a career-high 12 saves in the setback for the host Buccaneers (6-5-1), including three point blank stops in the two extra sessions that kept the match scoreless.  Pruchnik made nine saves in regulation, including a pair in the closing stages of the second half, to send the contest into the overtime periods, as Brandeis outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 19-11 margin overall (13-6 on goal) and held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks for the evening.
