Spartans Win in 2-0 Shutout at John Carroll

Senior forward Joshua Prosser and junior midfielder Paul Darmstadter each struck for goals as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team won in a 2-0 shutout against John Carroll University on Tuesday night at Don Shula Stadium.

The Spartans improved to 3-3-1 on the season, earning their third shutout of 2016.

CWRU took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute of play when Prosser beat the Blue Streaks goalkeeper for an unassisted goal. Prosser's goal would be the only of the first half.

In the 74th minute, Darmstadter scored off of an assist from freshman midfielder Marques Manta, pushing the Spartans lead to 2-0.

The Spartans defense kept John Carroll away from goal, holding the 8-4 advantage in shots on goal on Tuesday night.

In net, junior Calvin Boyle went the distance and made four saves.
