Joshua Prosser Scores Late as Spartans Play to 1-1 Tie at No. 9 Rochester

Senior forward Joshua Prosser scored his sixth goal of the season in the 70thminute as the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against the ninth-ranked University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon.

With their third draw of the season, the Spartans move to 4-7-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets sit at 8-1-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the UAA.

CWRU went down early in the second half when the Yellowjackets Mitch Volis scored via an assist from Jeff Greblick at the 49:29 mark. The goal was Volis' fourth on the season.

The Spartans finally broke through and tied the game at 1-1 with 19:31 left in the game when Prosser bicycle kicked a throw in from junior midfielder Paul Darmstadter into the top left corner of the net.

Both defenses would hold strong for the rest of regulation and both overtime periods, as the match ended in a tie.

For the match, Rochester led in shots (14-11) and corner kicks (8-4).

Junior goalkeeper Calvin Boyle went the distance for the Spartans, making six saves.
