Andre Abedian Delivers Again for Maroons in 1-0 Victory at Knox

From University of Chicago Athletics

Inclement weather forced a long delay and even a change of venue on Wednesday evening. But once the men's soccer match got underway, the University of Chicago received another big goal from Andre Abedian to secure a 1-0 road win at Knox College.

The No. 23-ranked Maroons improved to 3-0 for the fourth-straight year. The Prairie Fire absorbed their first loss to fall to 2-1.

With a 4:00 PM original start time, lightning and rain rolled into the area, forcing a match delay that lasted all the way until 5:45 PM. The venue was subsequently changed from Knox's campus to the Galesburg YMCA.

Four days prior, Abedian donned the hero's mantle by converting an overtime penalty kick to give his squad a 1-0 win over visiting University of Texas-Dallas. The junior midfielder was at it again on Wednesday as he scored yet another game-winner off an assist from sophomore midfielder Nicco Capotosto. The goal occurred at the 22:23 mark off Capotosto's free kick.

Junior goalkeeper Hill Bonin (3-0 record) also picked up his third-consecutive shutout, making one save in his 90 minutes between the pipes. UChicago finished with a 14-5 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
