Washington University in St. Louis senior back Kevin Goon and graduate student midfielder Ike Witte earned 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) Central Region Third-Team honors, as announced by the Association.
Goon, a two-time all-Central Region selection, started 13 of 15 games for the Bears on the back line. He scored one goal and had three assists for five points. Goon, a 2016 honorable-mention all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, had a pair of assists in a 2-2 double overtime draw with No. 25-ranked Redlands in the NCAA First Round. He started 61 of 65 games played in his career and had six goals and five assists for 17 points.
Witte started 16 games in the midfield and had four goals and an assist for nine points. He scored game-winning goals in a 3-0 win against Illinois Wesleyan (Sept. 23) and in a 4-0 victory over New York (Oct. 14.). Witte, a 2016 second-team all-UAA selection, started 59 of 67 career games played and had seven goals and six assists for 20 points.
WashU finished the season with a 10-4-3 overall record, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season.
