Michael Lin's Goal Lifts #20 Tartans Past Pomona-Pitzer, 1-0

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team closed out its West Coast trip with a second 1-0 victory when it topped Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, 1-0, on Sunday, September 10. The 20th-ranked Tartans are now 3-1 on the season while the Sagehens drop to 1-2-1.

Minutes after entering the pitch, junior Michael Lin (San Diego, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) connected on a pass from sophomore Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) in the 14th minute to put the Tartans ahead 1-0.

The Tartans put two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half but both were turned away by Sagehen keeper, Bryan Diangson.

With less than 15 minutes to go in the game a player for Pomona-Pitzer was sent off for receiving his second yellow card. A minute later, sophomore Alex Dziadosz (Boxford, Mass. / Phillips Academy Andover) had a shot saved by Diangson and then a second shot stopped at the goal line by a defender.

Junior Alec Lam (Upper Saddle River, N.J. / Northern Highlands Regional) made his fourth save of the game in the 85th minute preserving the shutout victory.
