From University of Rochester Athletics

The University of Rochester soccer team played its second straight double overtime game and tied the host Hobart College 1-1 on Saturday at Cozzens Field.

The Yellowjackets are now 2-0-2 on the year, while the Yellowjackets are now 0-2-1.

Kyle Patrick got the hosts on the board first in the 26th minute. Junior Bryce Ikeda answered for Rochester in the 59th minute and neither team could find the game winner through 110 minutes of play. Alec Kaminer made two saves for Hobart, and senior Redd Brown made five stops for the Yellowjackets.

The Statesmen finished with an 18-13 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corners. Patrick, who leads Hobart with four points this season, blasted his shot from the top of the box to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead. Just over 13 minutes into the second half, Ikeda found the back of the net on a shot from just inside the right side of the box to knot the game at 1-1, scoring his first of the season.

In the final minute of regulation, Hobart's Nick Dosky collected a feed from Mouhamed Diouf and fired a shot on goal, but Brown made the save for Rochester. The Statesmen were awarded a corner with 25 seconds remaining in the second half, but they were unable to capitalize.

In the 95th minute, Zach Lawlor came inches away from securing the win for UR, ringing a shot off the crossbar. With just under three minutes left in the first overtime, the Statesmen's Derrick Acheampong collected the ball in the box, paused and placed his shot on goal, but Brown once again denied the Statesmen scoring chance.

In the early minutes of the second overtime, Dosky came close to scoring again. His low rolling shot was stopped by Brown, but he didn't hang on to the rebound, but no one was there to take advantage and Brown was able to regain control of the ball.
