From Washington University Athletics

Freshman Will Sproule netted the game-winner in the second overtime as the No. 18-ranked Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team posted a 1-0 win at Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday in Wheaton, Ill.

WashU improved to 5-0-1 with the win, while Wheaton dropped to 3-5. The Bears are one of 26 teams in NCAA Division III who remain unbeaten.

Sproule, who was appearing in his first collegiate game, headed home a free kick from the corner by sophomore Makio Yamamoto for the game-winner.

"That was a great win for our team. Our guys advanced today and learned on the go," said head coach Joe Clarke. "I am so happy for that kid. Will has kept his chin and earned an opportunity to get on the field today."

Senior goalkeeper Colin McCune (5-0-1) made six saves in the win, including a breakaway save in the 95th minute when Drew Shay was awarded a yellow card after swatting ball in net with his hand.

Wheaton outshot WashU 17-9, and had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
