Brandon Bianco Resigns as CWRU Men’s Soccer Head Coach

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

Brandon Bianco has announced his resignation as the Head Coach of the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team, in order to pursue other professional opportunities.

"While we are sad to see Brandon go, we are looking forward to beginning a new era of CWRU soccer and finding a leader who can capitalize on the foundation Coach Bianco built to take the team to even greater heights," said CWRU Director of Athletics and Chair of Physical Education Amy Backus. "We wish him well in this new chapter in his coaching career."

Bianco will be assuming the role of Head Men's Soccer Coach at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Bianco finished his seven seasons at CWRU with an overall record of 61-47-21, marking the third-most victories and second-best winning percentage by a head coach in the program's history. His tenure at CWRU was highlighted by the team's 2018 campaign. The Spartans finished the year with a 16-4-2 overall record, the second-most wins in a season in team history, while the team qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third time in program history, and reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time.

Bianco and his staff were named the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year and the Great Lakes Regional Coaching Staff of the Year following the 2018 campaign, while he was also named the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Men's Coach of the Year in 2018. Twenty-seven of his players received All-UAA honors during his time with the team, while two players – Chris Cvecko (2015) and Zachary Senft (2019) – were named All-Americans.

"This transition is very bittersweet for me. I am so grateful that seven years ago Case Western Reserve University entrusted me to lead their men's soccer program," said Bianco. "What has been the greatest gift in my time in University Circle, has been the relationships with the many players I've coached, our alumni, the other student-athletes I've connected with, and the colleagues I've had the pleasure of working alongside. The CWRU men's soccer program is special, and I will dearly miss the daily interactions with the incredible student-athletes. I leave knowing that the program is on a strong foundation and am excited to see what the future has in store for it. Thank you to everyone associated with the program for impacting my life in such a meaningful way."

A national search will be conducted to find Bianco's replacement.
