In their penultimate home meet of the season, the University of Chicago swimming and diving teams sent their four seniors off victorious with wins over DePauw University and Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday.
Before the meet began, the Maroons recognized their four seniors. UChicago's men defeated DePauw 178-116 and IIT 251-41.
Freshman Mantim Lee was a three-time winner in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and as part of the 400-yard freestyle relay. His 200-yard freestyle time of 1:41.38 was an NCAA B-cut mark. Junior Andrew Angeles (100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke), sophomore Bryan Bunning (100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke) and freshman Jonas Fowler (500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM) all won multiple individual events. Angeles swam an NCAA B-cut time of 57.80 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
All three of UChicago's divers put up NCAA provisional scores in the three-meter dive, led by junior Matthew Staab's mark of 330.90, junior Anthony Restaino's 326.15 and junior Kevin Steffes' 297.75. Restaino scored a 299.55 to win the one-meter dive and earn an NCAA provisional score along with Staab (298.65).
