Maggie Dillione and Sara Tillie Lead CWRU on CSCAA Scholar All-America List

From Case Western Reserve University Athletics

For the second year in a row, Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) lead the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America list for the championship semester of the 2013-14 season.

Both 2014 graduates served as the team's co-captains this past season. Dillione is named to the CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team for the second straight season, while Tillie picks up honorable-mention status for the third year in a row.

As a team, the Spartans posted a 3.35 grade point average. Now having earned the honor in each of their four seasons under Head Coach Doug Milliken, the Spartans ranked fourth amongst the eight University Athletic Association schools on the list.

The CSCAA Team Scholar All-America Award is presented to programs with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, first in the fall semester and second in the semester of the NCAA Championship (winter/spring). The Spartans compiled a 3.33 GPA during the fall.

Dillione, CWRU's 2014 Glenn and Peggy Nicholls Female Athlete of the Year, placed third in the nation in the 200-yard butterfly and seventh in the 100 fly. She graduated as a four-time NCAA All-American with a pair of individual school records in the 100 fly (56.14) and 200 fly (2:03.05). She is also a member of two school-record quartets in the 200 medley and 400 medley relays, a nine-time All-UAA performer, and a two-time UAA Champion in the 200 fly. Dillione earned her degree in biology (pre-med).

CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team honors are awarded to NCAA Championship qualifiers who achieved a cumulative or term grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the championship semester.

Tillie set school records in both the 200 individual medley (2:07.33) and 400 IM (4:32.18) during her senior campaign. Along with Dillione, she is a member of the school-record 200 and 400 medley relay teams. Tillie graduated with a 3.840 GPA as a double-major in anthropology and Asian studies.

CSCAA Honorable Mention status goes to student-athletes with a 3.5 or higher term or cumulative GPA that achieved an NCAA "B" time standard but did not compete at the national championship.

Overall, 13 of the team's 21 second year or higher student-athletes earned UAA All-Academic honors, given to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30.
