Austen Blease Earns All-America Status on Day Three at NCAA Championships

New York University's men's swimming & diving team finished Day Three of the NCAA Division III Championships. The four-day meet is being held Wednesday-Saturday, March 19-22, at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Natatorium in Indiana.

Junior diver Austen Blease finished eighth in the preliminary men's one-meter competition, earning All-American status and a spot in the final competition. During the men's one-meter finals, Blease earned a score of 482.20 to finish in sixth place.

"I could not be prouder of how absolutely amazing Austen performed today," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "This places him among the best divers in the country, which is where he obviously deserves to be."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Senior Charlie Wu placed 27th in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.96.

- Junior Matt Kendall took 28th place in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.57.

"No one made it back finals," said Head Coach Trevor Miele, "We had some really solid swims today, but they just weren't our primary events."
