Emory University rising junior Andrew Wilson recently
qualified for and competed at the 2014 Phillips 66 Summer National
Swimming Championships in Irvine, California, recording top-30
finishes in three different breaststroke events.
Wilson competed in the finals of one of the three events he
competed in, placing 14th in the 50-meter
breaststroke with a time of 28.60 seconds in the finals, after
swimming a time of 28.36 seconds in the preliminaries. With
the 14th-place finish, he earned three points for his
team, the Dynamo Swim Club, which finished 13th out
of 70 teams at the meet.
Wilson also placed 24th in the preliminaries of the
200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:15.76 and
26th in the 100-meter breaststroke with a mark of
1:02.59.
Wilson will enter his junior season at Emory with seven all-America
certificates during his career, including National Championships as
a part of the Eagles' 200-yard medley and 400-yard medley relays in
2014. The 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie
of the Year and school-record holder in both the 100-yard and
200-yard breaststroke helped lead Emory to a third-place finish at
the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships.
