Emory Defeats Savannah College of Art & Design

The Emory University Swimming and Diving men's team picked up a victory on Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff Physical Education Center, defeating the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) 153-106.

The team of sophomore Mitchell Cooper, junior Andrew Wilson, senior Hayden Baker and freshman Oliver Smith winning the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:33.58, and freshman Alexander Hardwick, freshman Wes Duke, junior Matt Kuhlik and Smith winning the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:07.04.

Hayden Baker and Wilson each won a pair of individual events at the meet as well.  Baker claimed victories in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:54.61) and 100-yard butterfly (50.60 seconds), while Wilson won the 100-yard breaststroke (56.38 seconds) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.16), the former good for the Emory men's only NCAA 'B' cut time of the meet.

Other individual first-place finishes for the Emory men came from sophomore Christian Baker in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.69), Hardwick in the 100-yard freestyle (46.64 seconds), and senior Eric Ruggieri in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.27).
