Emory University swept the team titles at the 2015 University Athletic Association on Saturday night, with both the men's and women's squads finishing first at the conference championships, hosted by Emory at the Woodruff Physical Education Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The women finished with 2,076.5 points, the third-most ever
scored by a team in the history of the meet. The Eagles finishing
729 points better than second-place Washington University, which
tallied 1,347.5 points. Chicago finished in third with a score of
1,184, followed by New York University (1,129.5), Carnegie Mellon
University (1,031), the University of Rochester (806.5), Case
Western Reserve University (594) and Brandeis University
(293).
After Emory and Chicago entered the final day in a tie for
first, the Eagles ended with the final advantage, totaling 1,551
points during the meet, with Chicago taking second-place with 1,408
points. New York University took third with 1,374 points,
followed by Washington (1,296), Carnegie Mellon (1,001), Case
(794), Rochester (669) and Brandeis (391).
It marked the 23rd overall
conference title for the Emory women, and the
17th overall for the men.
In addition, a number of Eagles won individual awards on
Saturday night. Junior Andrew Wilson and
senior McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg were selected as the UAA
Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Year, respectively, while
freshman Julia Wawer was named the UAA Women's Rookie of
the Year. In addition, Head Coach Jon Howell and
assistants Cindy Fontana, Chris Marshall, John
Petroff and Miller Douglas were named the UAA
Women's Coaching Staff of the Year for the second-straight year and
eighth time in the program's history.
Wilson, who won and set new conference records in the 200-yard
individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke
during the meet, became the eighth men's swimmer in the program's
history to win the award, and the first since Peter O'Brien in
2012. Newsum-Schoenberg, who set records in the 500-yard freestyle
and 200-yard butterfly, in addition to winning the 1,650-yard
freestyle, was the sixth-straight Emory woman to win the honor, and
the 16th person overall. Wawer became the
10th Emory swimmer to win the women's Rookie of the
Year award, after she won the 200-yard freestyle in a UAA record
time, and finished third in the 500-yard freestyle.
The other award winners were Drew Hamilton from Case Western
Reserve (Men's Rookie of the Year), Austen Blease from NYU (Men's
Diver of the Year), Austin Campitelli from NYU (Women's Diver of
the Year), Scott Donie from NYU (Men's and Women's Diving Coach of
the Year) and the NYU Men's Swimming Coaching Staff.
Other individual championships for the Eagles on the final day of
the meet were freshman Cindy Cheng and junior Jared
Scheuer in the men's and women's 200-yard backstroke,
senior Nancy Larson in the women's 100-yard freestyle,
junior Elizabeth Aronoff in the women's 200-yard
breaststroke, freshman Rebecca Upton in the women's
200-yard butterfly, junior John Galvin in the men's
200-yard butterfly, and the women's 400-yard freestyle relay team
of sophomore Marissa Bergh, Cheng, Wawer and Larson, which
broke the conference record in the event with a time of
3:24.87.
Adding on all-UAA honors for the Eagles on day four were
junior Carolyn Bonfield in the women's 1,650-yard
freestyle (2nd), sophomore Christian Baker in
the men's 1,650-yard freestyle (3rd),
freshman Brandon Shinsato in the 200-yard backstroke
(2nd), Bergh in the 100-yard freestyle (2nd),
sophomore Annelise Kowalsky and senior Megan
Beach in the 200-yard breaststroke (2nd and
3rd, respectively) and senior Nina Zook in the
200-yard butterfly.
Emory totaled 22 conference championships and 45 all-UAA finishes
during the four-day meet.
