Emory University junior Andrew
Wilson broke the NCAA Division III record in the men's
100-yard breaststroke to lead the Eagles during the second day of
competition on Friday at the Miami Invitational, hosted by Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio.
After breaking the Division III record in the preliminaries of the
event in the morning with a time 53.54 seconds, Wilson bettered his
time in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event
with a mark of 53.41 seconds. The times bested the previous
Division III record of 53.61 seconds, set by Denison's Damon
Rosenburg at last year's Miami Invitational. The time was
also good for pool and meet records, and cleared Wilson's own
school record mark of 54.26 seconds, set at last year's NCAA
Championships.
Wilson's performance in the 200-yard breaststroke was one of 30
individual qualifying times for the Emory men and women during day
two of the meet, to go along with five qualifying marks in
relays. The Emory women currently sit in second place in the
team standings with 1,011 points, trailing only host Miami with
1,682 points. The men are in fourth place with 972 points,
behind Denison (1,478.5), Cincinnati (1,358.5) and Wright State
(1,078).

in a pair of events, finishing fifth in the finals of the 400-yard
individual medley with a time of 3:56.92, and third in the finals
of the 100-yard backstroke after swimming a mark of 50.49 seconds
in the preliminaries of the event, each good for an NCAA
provisional time. Senior Hayden Bakeradded a
fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a 'B' cut time
of 49.12 seconds in the preliminaries, while in the 200-yard
freestyle, sophomore Christian Baker placed fifth
