Austen Blease of NYU Breaks Own UAA and NYU Records in One-Meter Dive

From NYU Athletics

New York University's men's diving team competed during the first day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. The meet is being held over four days this Wednesday through Saturday, February 11-14, at Emory College's Madeline Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta, GA.

Senior diver Austen Blease finished first in the one-meter preliminaries (543.90) and finals (567.70), shattering the UAA and NYU one-meter records with his final score. The previous UAA record of 526.10 was set by Blease at last year's championship competition, while the previous NYU record of 531.60 was set by Blease earlier this season.

"As this is Austen's senior year, it was his last one-meter UAA performance, and he was as sharp as I have ever seen him," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "He has put in a lot of work and it all came together tonight."

Senior diver Brian Blum also performed notably during the first day of competition, finishing seventh in the preliminary competition (419.95) and in the finals (428.10).
