Chicago Posts Four All-American Finishes at Day Two of NCAA Championships

Four more All-American awards and two school records highlighted the University of Chicago swimming and diving effort at day two of the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday.

UChicago started strong by reaching the men's 200-yard freestyle relay finals. In the evening session, the foursome of sophomore Jeremy Estes, junior Thomas Meek, sophomore Mantim Lee and junior Matthew Veldman secured All-American status by taking eighth place. The relay broke the school record in a time of 1:21.74.

In the men's one-meter dive, senior Matthew Staab was an Honorable Mention All-American after finishing 13th. His final score was 422.85 points.

The Maroon women also found success in relay competition. The 400-yard medley relay garnered All-American honors with an eighth-place showing in 3:51.10. The relay was composed of freshman Melissa Bischoff, senior Jennifer Hill, junior Jen Law and sophomore Maya Scheidl.

Individually, sophomore Alison Wall broke a school record in the 200-yard freestyle prelims, recording a time of 1:50.97. That mark put her in the consolation final, where she was an Honorable Mention All-American after placing 14th in a time of 1:51.35.
