Chicago Posts Senior Day Wins Over DePauw and Trinity

The No. 10-ranked University of Chicago swimming and diving team recognized its senior athletes before Saturday's meet and then delivered team victories against DePauw University and Trinity (Texas) University.

It was Senior Day at the Myers-McLoraine Pool for six UChicago seniors – Andrew Angeles, Michael Charysh, Robert Kunkel, Anthony Restaino, Matthew Staab and Kevin Steffes. In the tri-meet scoring, the Maroons defeated Trinity 205-87 and DePauw 192.5-105.5. 

UChicago collected nine event victories. The divers in particular excelled. Restaino led the way by setting a new school record with a NCAA provisional qualifying score of 356.63 in the three-meter dive. His winning one-meter dive of 296.55 was also a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Other divers who tallied NCAA provisional scores included freshman Dean Boures in the one meter (276.98) and the three meter, along with Staab (319.73) and Steffes (308.85) on the three-meter board.

Angeles produced multiple wins as well, sweeping the 100-yard breaststroke (58.55) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.82). He swam the second leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:33.21) alongside sophomore Mantim Lee, junior Matthew Veldman and junior Thomas Meek.
