Chicago Breaks Pair of School Records at Day Two of UAA Championships

The University of Chicago men's swimming and diving team broke two school records at day two of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Thursday.

Junior Thomas Meek set a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle when he swam a time of 20.29 in the prelims. He went on to take runner-up in the event final with a mark of 20.37. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay was second in a school-record time of 1:21.93, which was only 0.24 seconds behind first place. The relay included Meek, sophomore Mantim Lee, sophomore Jeremy Estes and junior Matthew Veldman.

UChicago's men also got a pair of B cuts in the 50-yard freestyle, which came from Mantim Lee (20.82) and sophomore Jonathan Simoneau (20.83). Lee led off the medley relay in the 100-yard backstroke with a B cut mark of 51.10. That 400-yard medley relay team of Lee, senior Andrew Angeles, Veldman and Meek tallied a B cut time of 3:21.23.
