The University of Chicago men's diving team took second and third place in the one-meter dive to kick off the four-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Wednesday.

The men's one-meter dive was the only event contested at day one of the UAAs. Four UChicago divers were in the top six after prelims, including senior Matthew Staab, senior Anthony Restaino, freshman Dean Boures and senior Kevin Steffes.

In the final, New York University's Austen Blease broke his own UAA record with a winning score of 567.70. Staab took second place at 532.10 and Restaino was third with 512.15. Both UChicago divers ended up receiving All-UAA honors for their top-three finishes. Boures placed fifth (458.50) and Steffes was sixth (435.30).

UChicago is the current leader in the standings with 104 points, followed by NYU (55), Washington University-St. Louis (37) and University of Rochester (37).
