Balance Leads Rochester Past Hartwick

The men's swimming and diving team put together a terrifically balanced effort enroute to a 171-116 victory over Hartwick College at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Rochester won both relays (200 medley and 400 freestyle), took first place on both diving boards, and captured either first or second place in every event.
 
The tone was set with the first event – the 200 medley relay, comprised of James Frauen, Patrick Davis, Brian Wong, and Gunnar Zemering. That quartet was timed in 1:37.13. Three of the first four won another event in the afternoon and Zemering added a runnerup finish and a third place finish.
 
Frauen was first in the 100 backstroke (:53.83) and second in the 200 backstroke (1:57.44). Davis won the 100 breaststroke (1:00.87, with Arlen Fan second – 1:02.42). Wong was first to touch the wall in the 100 fly (:52.28). Zemering was second in the 100 free (:47.70, Ryan Berger was third in :48.80) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:48.03, behind Dylan Sharkey's 1:46.39 which was second individually).
 
Rochester's other individual champions were Daniel Weekes in the 50 free (:22.36, Brett Maus was third in :22.45), Dan Myers in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.08), and Sharkey in the 500 free (4:52.34).
 
Weekes, Sharkey, Zemering, and Frauen made up the 400 free relay which closed the meet in a winning time of 3:13.34.
 
Aaron LoPrete had runnerup finishes in the 200 fly (2:03.46) and the 200 IM (2:04.43). Mitchell Grey was second in the 1000 free in 10:35.77 and Ben Weinstein was third (10:44.33).
 
Max Adler posted diving victories on the one meter (239.78) and three meter boards (2:19.08).
