Brian Wong and Gunnar Zemering each posted an individual event
win and swam on two wining relays for the University of Rochester
in a 159-135 loss to Ithaca College on Monday afternoon.
This was the first competitive meet for the Yellowjackets since
Rochester won the Liberty League team title more than five weeks
ago. Ithaca's men are 8-0 in dual meets. Rochester is 3-4.
Wong was first in the 100 fly (:52.56) and second in the 200 fly
(2:00.94). He swam the third leg of the winning 200 medley relay
(1:37.24) with Russell Rosenkranz, Pat Davis, and Zemering. He swam
the second leg of the wining 400 free relay (3:11.98) with James
Frauen, Zemering, and Ryan Berger. Rochester out-paced Ithaca by
22/100ths of a second to win the 400 free.
Zemering was first in the 50 free (:21.62) and second in the 100
free (:48.34). Frauen was an individual champion for
Rochester as well. He was first in the 200 backstroke (1:59.86) and
second in the 10 backstroke (:53.94).
Dylan Sharkey had a pair of runnerup finishes – second in the
200 free (1:45.99) and the 200 IM (2:01.14). Davis was second in
the 100 breaststroke (1:01.67) and third in the 200 breaststrokje
(2:20.44). In the distance races, Mitchell Gray was second in
the 1000 freestyle (10:33.01) and Lee Stovall was second in the 500
freestyle (4:55.50).
On the diving boards, Max Adler was second on the three meter
(221.92) and on the one meter (242.70). Caulin Nelson-Angelsea was
third on the three meter (122.10) and third on the one meter
(108.30).
