Christian Baker of Emory Makes Olympic Trials Cut in 400 Freestyle

Emory University swimmer Christian Baker has become the third member of the Emory men's swimming & diving team to make the Olympic team trial cut this year, qualifying in the 400 Freestyle event this past weekend.

Baker registered a time of 3:56.92 on Saturday night and with that mark, Baker will compete in Omaha, Nebraska from June 26th through July 3rd for a chance to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic team.

Baker will be one of three Emory University swimmers looking to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team in Omaha at the end of the month with Andrew Wilson competing in both the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events and Oliver Smith taking part in the 50 Freestyle.

The Farragut, TN native is coming off a tremendous junior season where he earned a team-best six All-America certificates in the 500 Free, 200 Free, 1650 Free, 800 Free Relay and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays, helping the Emory men's swimming & diving team to a third place finish at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships.
