Connor Farrell of CWRU Earns All-America Honorable Mention During Day 1 of NCAA Championships

Case Western Reserve University senior Connor Farrell finished 14th in the men's three-meter dive to claim an All-America Honorable Mention certificate during the first day of competition at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Farrell tallied a score of 439.85 in the consolation finals of the event to finish 14thand become the first diver in the program's history to earn an All-America Honorable Mention certificate.  Earlier in the day, he finished 10th in the preliminaries of the event with a score of 449.30.

Farrell will be back in action later in the week, competing in the men's one-meter dive on Friday.

Also in action during the first day, sophomore Drew Hamilton finished 17th in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:32.86.  Hamilton narrowly missed out on making the finals of the event, with the top-16 swimmers in the preliminaries earning a spot in the evening competition.  He was just over three-tenths of a second behind the 16th-place finisher in the preliminaries.

Action at the meet will resume on Thursday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.  Scheduled to be in action for the Spartans during the second day of competition are Hamilton in the 400-yard individual medley, sophomore Oliver Hudgins in the 200-yard freestyle, and Hamilton, Hudgins, senior Aaron Tamand junior Andrew Henning in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay.
