Cooper Tollen, 800 Freestyle Relay Earn All-America Honors For Eagles on Day Three

he Emory University men's swimming & diving team finished day three of the 2016 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships with two more All-America honors and another school record set. Following three days of competition, the Eagles with 249 team points trail only Denison (364.50) and Kenyon (331.50) in the team standings.

Earning All-America honors for the Eagles on day three were the 800 Freestyle Relay team of junior Christian Baker, freshman Thomas Gordon, sophomore Alex Kohlmanand junior Hayes Burdette-Sapp set a school record with a time of 6:35.36 in a third place showing and sophomore Cooper Tollen who placed seventh in the 100 Breaststroke, touching at 55.27. Through three days, the Emory men have amassed 10 All-America winners: seven individual and three relays.

Junior Mitchell Cooper, sophomore Alex Hardwick and senior Jared Scheuer competed in the 100 Backstroke with Cooper coming in 27th (50.56), Hardwick in 30th (50.64) and Scheuer in 36th (51.15). In the 100 Breaststroke along with Tollen, Emory saw sophomore Aaron Schwartz place 33rd with a time of 57.95.

The Eagles will close out the 2016 NCAA Championships on Saturday with the 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, 1,650 Freestyle, women's 1-meter diving and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
