The New York University men's swimming team finished in ninth place at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which were held on Wednesday-Saturday, March 16-19, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
This was the second consecutive NCAA Championships at which NYU placed ninth. The Violets accumulated 126 points in the 55-team competition. Denison University was crowned national champion with 455.5 points.
Over the course of the meet, new NYU records were broken in the 500-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
"Finishing in the top 10 at nationals for two years in a row is a huge accomplishment for this program and we will look to build off of our success next season," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I am really appreciative of our swimmers' hard work and dedication and I am very happy that they had such a great season."
Sophomore Joe Baron, senior Win Htet Oo, junior Max Phillips, and sophomore Chad Moody then teamed up in the finals of the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in seventh place with a time of 3:00.89 and securing First Team All-America honors.
"I was extremely proud of how we finished up the meet tonight," continued Miele. "The relay team really stepped up tonight and dropped a fast time."
