From Emory University Athletics

Rising junior Oliver Smith rounded out the Emory swimmers competing at the 2016 Olympic Team Trials on Friday morning, competing in the preliminaries of the 50 Freestyle inside the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Smith, the NCAA Division III 50 Free Champion at the 2016 NCAA Championships, finished second in his heat with a new long course personal best time of 22.92. Smith's time placed him tied for 31st out of 165 competing swimmers, just .47 seconds behind the qualifying time for tonight's semifinals.

Smith's finish was the fourth top-40 finish by an Emory swimmer this week at the Olympic Trials as Andrew Wilson was fourth in the 200 Breaststroke, fifth in the 100 Breaststroke and Christian Baker was 40th in the 400 Freestyle.
