The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams kicked off their competition schedule with a quad meet against Denison University, Northwestern University and University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday.
Facing off against a pair of NCAA Division I opponents and one of the best Division III teams in the country, UChicago compiled seven finishes in the top three of an event.
Freshman Alexander Farrell had a big debut with four of his performances coming in the top three. He took second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.30) and was closely followed by senior Thomas Meek in third (21.61). He was also second in the 100-yard freestyle (46.49) and third in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:35.31) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:09.83).
