Max Adler, Gunnar Zemering of Rochester Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

From University of Rochester Athletics

Two athletes from the University of Rochester men's swimming and diving team were honored Wednesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Scholar All-Americans.

Sophomores Max Adler and Gunnar Zemering were named Honorable Mention following their efforts in the pool and in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.  Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective diving qualifying meets.

Adler completed a successful season as UR's top male diver, qualifying for the Zone Diving Championships on the 1-meter board.  Also in 2015-16, the sophomore finished 4th on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards at the UAA Championships and was 8th on both boards at the Liberty League Championships.

Zemering was lightning fast in the pool again as a sophomore, earning All-UAA honors by virtue of his 2nd place finish in the 50 yard freestyle event at the UAA Championships.  His time was 20.62 seconds and was an NCAA 'B' cut and a new Rochester school record.  He also finished 8th in the 100 yard freestyle at UAA's and was a 5-time champion at the Liberty League Championships, earning Swimmer of the Year accolades.
