Yellowjackets Win Once at Rochester Invitational

The University of Rochester men's swimming and diving team completed the season opening UR Invitational with a 1-2 dual meet record at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
UR's men defeated Brandeis University 300-65 while falling to NYU 272-98 and Canisius College 239-131 in the triple-dual format.
 
Sophomore Gunnar Zemering kicked off his second year on the River Campus in a similar fashion to how his freshman year went, winning the 50 freestyle in 21.20 seconds.  In the 100 freestyle, Zemering ended in second, touching the wall in 47.71 seconds.
 
Senior Dylan Sharkey posted a 2nd place finish in the 200 yard freestyle event, swimming in a time of 1:46.26.  The senior also placed 4th in the 500 free in a time of 4:57.94.  Both he and Zemering paired with freshmen Eric Feirouz and Danny Aronson to place 3rd in the 400 yard freestyle relay to close the meet.  The quartet touched the wall in 3:14.99.
 
The 200 yard medley relay of freshman Connor Virgile, sophomore Arlen Fan, junior Alden Brewer and Zemering placed 5th in 1:39.68.
 
In the 100 backstroke, UR finished in 5th through 7th with Feirouz leading Cory Chan and Virgile to the wall for the Yellowjackets.  Feirouz also ended 4th in the 200 back, swimming just over two minutes.  Fan finished in 6th in the 100 breaststroke while freshman Elliot Schwinn ended with the same result in the 200 distance.  Sophomore Lee Stovall posted a 5th place result in the 200 butterfly.  The 400 IM saw UR finish in 4th overall with Schwinn and 5th with classmate Miles Markey.

The Saturday diving results saw UR's Kasper Moczulski finish 5th, Max Adler 6th and Erik Rosenkranz 7th in the 1 meter discipline.
